Yandex Micro Markup for Categories helps search engines understand CS-Cart category pages more accurately. The add-on adds structured data for the catalog, products, images, names, links, and prices, making product lists clearer for search crawlers.

What it is for

The add-on is useful for stores that promote product categories in Yandex and want to provide search engines with more page data without editing storefront templates manually. It connects the category page with the offer catalog and individual products in the list.

Key features

Adds OfferCatalog micro markup to category pages.

Marks products in category lists as individual offers.

Passes product links, names, images, and prices to structured markup.

Supports the main category product list layouts: grid, compact list, and product list.

Keeps category descriptions and additional SEO descriptions visible when compatible functionality is used in the store.

Works on the storefront without a separate settings page and without manual markup for each category.

How it works

After installation, the add-on connects its storefront templates for category pages. When a customer opens a category, the content container receives the offer catalog type, and product cards inside the list are extended with Schema.org attributes. Images, names, links, and prices are output with the required itemprop attributes, so the search engine receives a structured description of the product list.

If the category has a description or additional SEO descriptions, the add-on keeps them on the page and adds markup where appropriate. No separate admin configuration is required: the add-on starts working after it is enabled.

Instructions for Yandex Micro Markup for Categories

What the add-on does

The add-on adds micro markup to category pages for Yandex and other search engines that read Schema.org. On a category page, it marks the main content container as an offer catalog and products in the list as individual offers with a name, link, image, and price.

The add-on does not add a separate settings page and does not require additional fields in the admin panel. Its purpose is to automatically extend the existing category output on the storefront.

Where the add-on is located

The add-on is located in the CS-Cart add-on list: Add-ons → Manage add-ons → Yandex Micro Markup for Categories.

The add-on has no separate settings page. After it is enabled, it works on storefront category pages and uses the data that already exists in products and categories.

Where the micro markup appears

Micro markup is added to store category pages:

— the main category content container receives the OfferCatalog type;

— products in category lists receive the Offer type;

— the product link is passed as the offer URL;

— the product image is passed as the offer image;

— the product name is passed as the offer name;

— the price and currency are passed to the price markup.

The add-on supports the main product list templates: grid, compact list, and standard product list. It also adds the category image to the markup when the category has a main image.

Compatibility with themes and category descriptions

The add-on is designed for the CS-Cart storefront and category templates that output standard product lists. The repository includes adaptations for product lists and UniTheme2 elements, as well as additional category descriptions when compatible functionality is used in the store.

If the store theme significantly changes category or product list item templates, check after installation that the micro markup appears in the actual storefront HTML.

How to check the result

1. Open a storefront category page that contains products.

2. Open the page source or the browser inspector.

3. Check that the category content container has itemscope itemtype="https://schema.org/OfferCatalog".

4. Check that products in the list have itemprop="itemListElement", itemscope, and itemtype="https://schema.org/Offer".

5. Make sure the product block contains attributes for the link, image, name, price, and currency.

6. Additionally, check the page with a micro markup validator or the structured data testing tool you use for SEO audits.

If the markup does not appear

— Make sure the add-on is enabled.

— Check that you are opening a category page, not a product page, brand page, or custom landing page.

— Clear the CS-Cart cache and template cache.

— Check whether the active theme overrides the same product list templates on top of the add-on files.

— If a custom category template is used, compare the actual HTML with the expected attributes from the result check section.
