Category Tree
The add-on adds a compact category navigation block to the storefront. It shows the section tree, helps visitors move to the right branch faster, and reveals subcategories without filling the page with a long list.
What it is for
The tree helps shoppers understand the catalog structure, reach the needed section faster, and keep nested categories visible in a convenient sidebar or any other chosen layout area.
Key features
- a ready-to-use block for the CS-Cart layout manager;
- categories from the current section with nested subcategories;
- highlighting of the current catalog section;
- a configurable number of subcategories shown by default;
- expansion of hidden items through the “Show more” link;
- responsive storefront styling.
How it works
The administrator places the “MS: Category Tree” block in the required layout area. The add-on takes the categories of the current section, builds a nested tree, and shows only part of the subcategories right away. The remaining items open through the “Show more” link, and the number of visible subcategories is controlled by the add-on setting.

Instructions for Category Tree
What the add-on does
The add-on adds a hierarchical catalog navigation block to the layout manager. Customers can see the current section, move to the needed categories, and expand additional subcategories when they want to browse deeper.
Where to find the add-on
The number of visible subcategories is configured under Add-ons → Manage add-ons → Category Tree. The block itself is placed under Design → Layouts.
How to configure the tree
- Open the add-on settings.
- In Visible subcategory count, enter how many second-level items should be shown immediately.
- Save the settings.
How to place the block
- Open Design → Layouts and select the required layout.
- Add a new block to a suitable section, such as a sidebar.
- Select MS: Category Tree.
- Save the layout and clear the CS-Cart cache if necessary.
How to check the result
- Open a category page on the storefront.
- Make sure the tree shows available categories and highlights the current section.
- Check expansion of hidden subcategories and navigation links.
- Compare the number of initially visible subcategories with the add-on setting and verify the Show more link.
- Check the block on desktop and mobile screens.
If the tree is not displayed
Make sure the block is placed in the active layout and required section, categories are enabled, and the CS-Cart cache is cleared. Pages without a selected category may show a different tree than catalog section pages.
